Iran blamed for UK Parliamentary cyber-attack
The actor behind the 23rd July cyber-attack on Parliamentary is Iran, according to British Intelligence. The stolen information has not been yet used; neither the motive of the attack is cleared. It appears though, that other players begin to appear in the cyber security game.

North Korea and Wanna-Cry attacks are linked, Microsoft chief said
Microsoft chief claims that North Korea is to blame for the UK attacks. Even though nothing is proven about the actor, N.Korea has been widely linked to those attacks. Mr. Smith called for a Geneva type convention on cyber-security issues, as the world deals with more and more sophisticated cyber-threats and attacks conducted by nation-state actors.

Daniel Pinto, CEO of JPMorgan’s calls for global cyber-security cooperation
CEO of JPMorgan’s, stressed the necessity of creating global standards on cyber-security, during a panel at the Institute of International Finance meeting in Washington. According to D.Pinto the problem lies to the fact that each country has a different set of rules and standards, yet the threat is global.

Information on navy ships and jets were stolen by hackers
Secret information on F-35 joint strike fighter was compromised, last year. Even though, hackers had a 4-month free access to the data, according to the defense industry minister, that information is not considered as “classified type” sensitive but more of as commercially sensitive. The actor is not identified, yet.

Turkey looks to expand defense ties with Ukraine
The defense sector can be a key area to increase bilateral trade between Turkey and Ukraine, Turkish Defense Industry Undersecretary Ismail Demir has said.
“One of the greatest elements of achieving a trade volume of $10 billion in 2023, jointly proclaimed by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, will be the defense industry.”

Russia to donate Kalashnikovs, trucks and munitions to Philippines
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte announced that Russia would donate defense hardware to support the military’s fight against pro-Islamic State militants, who he said could regroup and attack “anywhere and everywhere”.
Moscow’s gift would follow China’s donation of more than 6,000 assault rifles and 100 sniper rifles, among the fruits of Duterte’s efforts to form partnerships with two arms-producing powers that are rivals to the United States.

Russia confirms sale of S-400 missile systems to Saudi Arabia
An agreement was reached with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to supply S-400 air defense systems, Kornet-EM anti-tank missiles, TOS-1A systems, automatic AGS-30 grenade launchers, AK-103 [export version of the AK-47] Kalashnikov assault rifles. According to business daily Kommersant, the new arms contracts with Saudi Arabia are worth more than $3 billion, $2 billion of which will be spent by Saudis on the S-400.

British Caterpillar offers engine support for domestically developed Altay tank of Turkey
It is stated that the British company proposed a new generation “CV12” type engine for use in the Altay tank. The British authorities also noted that they regard the production of this engine in Turkey positively. The same engine is also used in the Challenger tanks produced for the British army.
