The Institute's objective is to advance understanding of world issues in the areas of international politics, security, business and economics, especially in the often neglected area of the Balkans and, generally, southeastern Europe.
Specifically, the I.I.R. seeks to generate new ideas and perspectives in its areas of competence through ongoing research programs, training activities, seminars, conferences, and relevant publications. It seeks to contribute constructively on the dialogue regarding Greek foreign policy and security considerations in Europe, the Balkans and the Middle East. Last, but not least, it seeks to foster the development of relevant networks among academics, international relations specialists, policymakers, members of the media, and students.

Promoting research and activity in the field of International Relations, Politics, Security and Defense, Democratization and Human Rights, as well as Economics with a special focus on the European Union, Southeastern Europe, the Mediterranean and the Middle East region. |
