The issue of Bulgaria's economic and territorial outlet to the Aegean Sea has been predominant in the foreign policy of all Bulgarian governments since the late 19th century.
Dr Stavrinou-Paximadopoulou analyses the policy pursued by prime Minister A. Stambolijski in the period between the end of WWI and the Paris Peace Conference in 1919 and the 1923 Lausanne Treaty. Different aspects of the issue, such as Bulgaria's relations with Yugoslavia, Turkey and especially Greece, which is in the middle of the Greek-Turkish war and the stance of the Great Powers of the time are dealt with in the book.
